#1 Introduction

My name is Grace Pekoc. I am from Oswego, Illinois. I grew up knowing for a long time that I loved houses and color and floorplans. I watched a lot of HGTV and played with Legos, making different designs of homes and different buildings. Over time, I grew to admire the interior of buildings and spent middle and high school learning about interior design and architecture. I had some Sketchup classes in high school and created houses and explored digital design in different ways. I found Judson through a college fair and learned all about their architecture and design programs. I also got into contact with the softball coach here at Judson and realized it was a perfect fit for my college experience. I chose to make interior design my major after realizing that my interests had much more to do that than architecture. I am very glad that I made that decision and have come to understand that it is exactly what I am searching to do in the future.

Originally, my area of interest has been residential after watching so many home design shows on HGTV. After some classes here I have broadened my area of interest and have yet to decide which I am leaning towards the most. I have also enjoyed many of the field trips that we have taken to companies such as HON and Steelcase and the Merchandise Mart and have found an interest in furniture design and product lines as well. I am grateful to have the opportunity to see all the ins and outs and different areas of the interior design field and industry and am open to finding which one is right for me.

I have taken online courses before for interior design with Professor Richardson-Moore and Professor VanderNoorda. I enjoyed them and got to understand the time management skills it takes to do assignments and reading for an online course. I think that in order to be successful for this blog and course, I will also have to use those prior time management skills to get assignments done.
